Craig Cathcart studied at The Australian Ballet School in Melbourne, and was a member of The Australian Ballet before joining the Norwegian National Ballet in 2007. He has danced the Prince in The Nutcracker, the Bluebird in Sleeping Beauty, the pas de trois in Swan Lake, Carlotta Grisi in Pas de Quatre and the Hilarion/Peasant pas de deux in Giselle.
He has also danced in more recent works such as Balanchine's Symphony in Three Movements, Forsythe's The Second Detail and Limb's Theorem, Tetley's The Rite of Spring, Wheeldon's The Christening Suite and Kylián's Symphony of Psalms and 27'52". He has had roles created specifically for him by the choreographers Boyadjiev and Øyen.
At the Australian Ballet he danced the role of Benvolio in Cranko's Romeo and Juliet, Alain in Ashton's La fille mal gardée and the Prince in Rowles's The Nutcracker, as well as prominent roles in Balanchine's The Four Temperaments, Tetley's Voluntaries and Wheeldon's Continuum.
