How to retrieve your ticket
Your tickets can be sent to you via e-mail for printing or by regular post, or you can collect them from the box office. In order to avoid queues, we recommend that you collect your tickets one hour before the performance is scheduled to begin.
If you would like to receive your tickets by post, this costs NOK 49 in delivery charges.
At operaen.no, you can pay with VISA or MasterCard. For security reason not all foreign cards are accepted at operaen.no. The country issuing the card and the country associated with your computer’s IP-address must match. Unfortunately, this is necessary to avoid fraud involving foreign credit cards. This is in order to protect our customers.

Exchange of tickets and refunds
If you are unable to attend the performance on the date for which you have purchased a ticket, we can exchange your ticket for one for the same performance on another date, provided that places are available. It is not possible to exchange tickets for a different production. The ticket must be exchanged no later than one week prior to the original performance date.
For subscriptions (including Subscriber’s choice), the exchange costs NOK 100 per ticket. Ticket exchanges must be made via telephone (+47 21 42 21 21).
We do not offer refunds for tickets, but make exceptions if we must cancel or change the date of the performance. We will contact you as soon as possible in the event of a cancellation, and will endeavour to make the refund or exchange of your tickets to another date as efficiently as possible.
Refunds are not provided in the event of cast changes, delays or technical faults. The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet is not responsible for refunding expenses other than the ticket price (travel and accommodation expenses, etc.).
Do not worry if you have lost your ticket. As long as we have registered the name and/or telephone number of the person who has purchased the ticket, we will be able to replace it. In the event that you lose your ticket we recommend that you contact us as soon as possible. We will then either send your ticket to you via e-mail, or print a new ticket for you.
Tip: If you received your ticket via e-mail and still have the e-mail that was sent to you, you can easily print out a new ticket.
We can reserve tickets for you for up to five days from the date on which they are booked. For groups (10 persons or more) we are able to reserve tickets for up to one month from the booking date, or by agreement. Reservations cannot be made online.
Attending a ballet or opera performance doesn’t have to cost the earth if you are prepared to stand. The standing area in the Main House is our cheapest option, and costs NOK 100 for most performances. As the name implies, you must be prepared to stand throughout the performance, but you can lean on a rail, and we can promise that the acoustics will be perfect.
Standing room is available at the middle-rear of the Upper Circle and at the rear of the Gallery on both sides. As exit routes from the auditorium must be kept clear, the use of unsecured chairs in is not permitted in standing (or other) areas.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to purchase ten or more tickets to a performance online – contact the box office and we will be pleased to help you. Would you like to act as a contact person for your company, association or group of friends?

Please notify us if you are wheelchair user when you book your tickets. We have a limited number of permanent wheelchair spaces on both sides of the stalls in the Main House, and at the front at both sides in the Second House and the Studio. These spaces are not sold online, and are only available over the telephone or at the box office.
When you arrive for the performance contact the box office, and one of our ushers will show you to your place.
Discounts apply for most of our performances in the Main House and Second House, with the exception of certain concerts and guest performances. Discounts are not provided on NOK 100 tickets.
- Children (0-18 years): 50 %. Tickets must also be purchased for children seated on an adult’s lap.
- Students/draftees: 50 %
- Senior citizens: 20 % (from 67 years of age or with valid ID)
- OBOS members: 20 % (up to two tickets per performance)
- Group of 10+ persons: 15 %
- Subscriptions offer dedicated discounts and benefits. Read more under the Subscriptions section.
Ensure that you obtain the correct discount on your ticket upon purchasing, since we are unfortunately unable to apply discounts after purchase. Remember to take proof of your eligibility for the discount to the performance, since this may be checked upon entry to the auditorium.
Companion cards (ledsagerbevis): If you have an official companion card (issued by your district or local municipality), a free ticket is available for your companion. Companion tickets are available for almost all performances, except certain guest performances.
How discounts are calculated
Discounts are calculated based on the ticket price excluding the ticket fee of NOK 20 per ticket. The ticket fee is then payable in addition.
On certain Fridays, Saturdays and for premières, tickets to the Main House cost NOK 50 extra. See the individual performance details for price information.
