Tuva Semmingsen



Tuva Semmingsen was born in Norway and trained at the Norwegian State Academy of Music and the Royal Opera Academy in Copenhagen.

Future engagements include a.o. Il Trittico at the Royal Danish Opera, Kærestekoncerter with the Danish National Chamber Orchestra and Alcina with the Norwegian National Opera. Recent engagements include The Cunning Little Vixen at the Royal Danish Opera, Bach’s St John Passion with Sønderjylland’s Symphony Orchestra and Alcina and Orlando Paladino at Drottningholms Slottsteater.

Previous seasons has included Idomeneo on tour with Les Arts Florissants and William Christie, Rosina at the Norwegian State Opera, and Giulio Cesare with Le Concert d'Astree and Emmanuelle Haïm at the Opera of Lille. At the concert podium she sang Handel’s Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno with Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Fabio Biondi. At the Royal Danish Opera Tuva Semmingsen has sung Rosmira/Partenope, Cherubino/Le Nozze di Figaro, Dryade/Ariadne auf Naxos and Melisande/Pelleas et Melisande.

Other productions are Giulio Cesare at the Norwegian Opera conducted by Rinaldo Alessandrini and directed by Stefan Herheim, and Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Grand Opéra de Reims, Don Giovanni at the Royal Danish Opera as Zerlina, and Nerone/L’Incoronazione di Poppea, among others under the direction of David McVicar.

Tuva Semmingsen made her debut in 1999 at the Royal Danish Opera, Copenhagen as Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, a role she also performed at Teatro la Fenice, Venice in 2000. At the Royal Danish Opera she has also appeared amongst other as Sesto in Giulio Cesare, Angelina in La Cenerentola, Minerva and Melanto in Il Ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria, and as Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia.
