Per Boye Hansen


Short bio



Per Boye Hansen studied at the music academy in Essen (Folkwanghochschule) where he took his diploma as opera director in 1982. I was founder and artistic director of the "Oslo Summeropera" from 1983 to 1992 and directed for this company a number of operas. He was for five years assistant director at the opera in Cologne and also worked as assistant director at the Salzburg Festival. From 1990 to 2000 he was owner and director of Oslo Arts Management. In 2000 he joined the management at the Komische Oper Berlin where held the the position as casting director and from 2003 to 2005 "Operndirektor" under Andreas Homoki as "Intendant". Since 2005 he has been general and artistic director of the Bergen International Festival. In 2011 he was by the Norwegian Minister of Culture appointed as chairman of the committee for the Ibsen International Award.
