Niklas Mattsson


Since joining the Norwegian National Ballet in 2004, Niklas Mattsson has danced solo roles in classical ballets such as Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker and Swan Lake, and prominent roles in Balanchine's Serenade and The Four Temperaments and Tetley's Ricercare and Arena. He has also danced in Kylián's Sarabande and Symphony of Psalms, Welch's Maninyas, Forsythe's The Second Detail, Ekman's Resin and Strømgren's Suite, and parts have been created for him in Strømgren's The Four Seasons, Lidberg's Light In A Night’s Coat, Espejord's Met the Wall? and several works by Boyadjiev.

Born in Finland, Mattsson studied at the National Ballet School at the Finnish National Ballet and at the Royal Swedish Ballet School in Stockholm. He danced with the Royal Swedish Ballet in Stockholm for six years before joining the Norwegian National Ballet, and was also one of two dancers in Pontus Lidberg's first television ballet, Mirror, broadcast in 2003 on SVT.
