Swedish Court Singer Anna Larsson graduated from the University College of Opera in Stockholm in 1996. Her international debut was made in Mahler's second Symphony with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and Claudio Abbado in 1997, and her opera debut as Erda in Wagner's Das Rheingold at Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin conducted by Daniel Barenboim.
Anna Larsson has successfully created the roles of, among others Kundry, Erda, Waltraute, Orphée, Fricka, Dalilah, Lucretia, and Zia Principessa at theaters including Teatro alla Scala, Wiener Staatsoper, Bayerische Staatsoper, Festspiele Salzburg and Aix-en-Provence, the Royal Opera House in London, Teatro Maggio Musicale Firenze, La Monnaie Brussels, Palau des Arts Valencia, Royal Opera Copenhagen, Finnish National Opera and the Swedish Royal Opera.
In concert, Anna Larsson is rightly justifying her position internationally as the premier, and most consummate interpreter of Gustav Mahler's works. She regularly sings with all the great orchestras; Berliner Philharmoniker, Lucerne Festival Orchestra, New York Philharmonics, Wiener Philharmoniker, The Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Chicago Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonics, London Symphony and London Philharmonic orchestras.
She sings almost the entire concert repertoire for contralto/mezzosoprano and orchestra, with the most illustrious conductors including Mehta, Salonen, Harding, Jurowski, Rattle, Pappano, Dudamel, Osawa, Wigglesworth, Manacorda, Albrecht, Haenchen, Masur, Maazel, Gilbert and Harnoncourt.
In December 2010 Anna Larsson was appointed Court singer by King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, and in 2011 she opened her own concert house, Vattnäs Concert Barn, in the village Vattnäs near Mora in Dalecarlia. Recent engagements include Waldtaube in Dutch National Opera, Gaea in Daphne at Theatre Du Capitole in Toulouse, Kundry in Parsifal at Teatro Communale in Bologna and Herodias in Salome at the Royal Opera in Stockholm. In the summer 2014 she sang God the mother in The King of fools in her own Vattnäs Concert Barn. This years opera engagements include Klytaimnästra in Strauss' Elektra at Wiener Staatsoper and the newly composed opera about Jussi Björling that Vattnäs Concert Barn comissioned for the summer festival 2015.
In 2016 she sang Klytaimnästra in Elektra and Waltraute and Erda in Vienna also Erda in Berlin and also Cia Principessa in Il Trittico at Covent Garden. Summer 2016 includes the title role of Carmen in Dalhalla and Ms Quickly in Falstaff at Frankfurt Opera. In 2017 she will sing Kundry in Parsifal at Berlin State Opera.
